This project was conducted to assist the Cadmium Management Group in the implementation of the Tiered Fertiliser Management System (TFMS). Within the TFMS, a cadmium balance model is identified as a means by which farmers can manage cadmium (Cd) as soil Cd concentrations increase. The objective was to review international models used to predict cadmium accumulation in agricultural soils, and compare these with the New Zealand model, CadBal.
The Fertiliser Association of New Zealand and Dairy NZ funded development of the Nutrient Management Adviser Certification Programme (NMACP). This industry-wide certification aims to ensure that advisers have the learning, experience and capability to give sound nutrient advice.
