New Zealand’s reputation as a quality food producer is growing.
The Fertiliser Association of New Zealand promotes and encourages responsible and scientifically-based nutrient management.
The Fertiliser Association of New Zealand recently updated its Fertiliser Use on New Zealand Dairy Farms booklet to ensure farmers get the best value from fertiliser applied and to align the advice with the Code of Practice for Fertiliser Nutrient Management.
The booklet is part of a long-standing series of well-respected guides on fertiliser use, specific to New Zealand conditions. Other booklets in the series include Lime Use on NZ Pastoral Farms; Nutrient Management for NZ Vegetable Crops; Fertiliser Use on NZ Sheep and Beef Farms: andUse of Trace Elements in NZ Pastoral Farming.
“The Booklet is intended to provide clear, concise information on key aspects of soil fertility and responsible nutrient management for productive dairy farming,” says Fertiliser Association of New Zealand, CEO, Dr Vera Power.
This invaluable guide is based on years of scientific research under New Zealand conditions and provides sound recommendations for soil test ranges for essential nutrients. These recommendations are intended to give production certainty for different soil types and conditions.
Jeff Morton, co-author notes, “Appropriate management of the soil nutrient status is central to our grass-legume pasture systems. The booklet sets out how dairy farmers can consider their target soil phosphorus status for optimal economic return”.
The booklet is now available to download as a PDF on our website
